Independent Study
With a professor’s permission, students can register for an Independent Study course with this professor in order to pursue a special interest or develop a project.
Information on Internships
Study Abroad
Transfer credits for work done at foreign universities can be arranged on an individual basis. The University at Buffalo has a wide range of Study Abroad programs with universities in other countries. In addition, the department has particularly close relations with the Digital Arts Department at the University of Bremen, in Bremen, Germany.
Awards
Media Study majors are eligible for a number of department awards including:
Gregory Capasso Memorial Award
- Presented for outstanding creative work in film, video, digital arts and media scholarship
Pierre McAloon Memorial Award
- Presented for excellence in creative work in film
Levy-King-White Scholarships
- Presented for academic achievement and demonstrated financial need
Department Honors
These honors are given for outstanding achievement in film, video, digital arts and media scholarship, as well as outstanding service to the university and community.
Student Organizations
The Undergraduate Media Club is a student run, student-sponsored organization at the University at Buffalo. It's goal is to offer students interested in media arts the opportunity for social and academic participation within the field.
